Focus on Retail Suppliers

At our March meeting, members discussed next steps towards the kick-off of a new CCRO working group on retail risk management practices.

Jon Parrella (Esco Advisors) led a discussion with members to consider more details about best approaches to, and immediate plans for, this challenging new initiative. The current group leaders plan to include CCRO member companies of all types and sizes that are active in retail power and gas. Furthermore, the leaders seek to accelerate practice development by leveraging past CCRO work targeted at wholesale markets. 

Members have recognized that many nuances and complications exist in retail markets, operations, and regulations. The exposures created at retail level can be most challenging to measure let alone mitigate. Yet history has shown that these are the kind of challenges that get risk professionals at the CCRO the most energized. We anticipate this will become another major industry initiative, hosted by the CCRO and its member companies, for the advancement of risk management practices industry-wide.
