Background
Jim helped grow a boutique energy utility PR firm, Potomac Communications Group, and then was recruited to help lead and develop the energy and environment accounts in the Public Affairs practice at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide ultimately as Senior Vice President.
He launched Pierobon & Partners LLC in 2006 to integrate his offerings with his growing network of fellow marketing and communications pros throughout the U.S. He and his colleagues have served clients such as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO), Entergy, the American Council On Renewable Energy, (ACORE) and the Ocean Renewable Energy Coalition.
He took a sabbatical of sorts from his consultancy to help scale up Standard Solar, Inc. in Maryland from about 15 employees to 95 employees – and the 73rd fastest growing private company in the U.S. during 2010 according to INC magazine — as its first Chief Marketing Officer and later as VP – Market Development.
Before returning full-time to Pierobon & Partners LLC, Jim helped identify ways the Maryland Clean Energy Center could develop new revenue sources and secure sustainable funding while directing communications, marketing and outreach for the new not-for-profit.
Jim earned his Bachelor of Journalism and MBA from the University of Missouri-Columbia where he also has taught and guest-lectured on a variety of marketing and media topics. Jim also has guest-lectured at the University of Maryland and University of Maryland University College.
